Hello! I’m Lucy, a dynamic professional and a passionate baker at heart. Last spring, my family and I found our new home in the beautiful Grand Traverse County, a place that has quickly captured our hearts. My world revolves around two joys: nurturing startups towards success and crafting beautiful, delicious treats in my home kitchen—a micro-bakery where magic happens daily. I’m a proud mom to an incredible 11-year-old, a partner to a supportive husband, and a pet parent to our lovely English Mastiff.
Baking for me is a blend of art and heart—it’s how I spread joy. As a mom, wife, and baker, I’m committed to infusing love into everything I do, and I’m thrilled to share this journey with my community.
Q: Please tell us about yourself.
I’m Lucy, and I’ve carved out a fulfilling life here in Grand Traverse County, surrounded by the beauty of nature and a warm community. My days are spent juggling roles as an e-commerce and social media manager, and my evenings are dedicated to my passion for baking, where I run a home-based micro-bakery called Sweets By Lucy. Balancing my professional work with my love for creating beautiful and delicious baked goods keeps me energized. I’m also a mother, a life partner, and a friend, constantly inspired by the adventures and challenges that each new day brings.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Currently, I wear multiple hats with equal zest — as an e-commerce and social media manager, I help burgeoning startups carve their digital footprint and as the owner of Sweets By Lucy, I delve into the artistry of baking. What I love most is the blend of creativity and strategy both roles demand. The former allows me to empower brands in the digital space, while the latter lets me connect with people through the universal language of food. Looking ahead, I see myself continuing to grow both ventures, feeding both my entrepreneurial spirit and my community’s sweet tooth.
Q: What is your favorite book?
My reading tastes are quite eclectic—I enjoy diving into horror or fiction for that adrenaline rush and escapism, but I also find a lot of value in motivational books that inspire personal growth and drive. While I don’t have a favorite author, I’m always on the lookout for a good recommendation in any of these genres.
Q: What are some of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I love Rico’s and Bergstrom’s Burgers. The staffs are very friendly and the food is really great!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? What brought you to Grand Traverse County?
I’ve been a resident and a part of the Grand Traverse County community for about a year and a half now. What brought me here was my husband.
Q: What advice would you give to people who want to visit our community?
Go out and enjoy the lakes (in summer), enjoy the food and of course ice cream!
Q: If you could choose anyone today with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you all meet?
If asked whom I’d love to have lunch with, it would be my husband. He’s not only my partner in life but also my greatest supporter. We’d choose to dine at Rico’s, a local spot that’s become our favorite for its cozy ambiance and delicious cuisine. It’s the perfect place for us to enjoy some quality time together.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
My favorite aspect of our community has to be the lakes. Their cleanliness and clarity are not just visually stunning, but they also embody the pristine nature of our area. It’s this unique feature that makes our community stand out and a daily reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Most people might not guess it by looking at me, but I have quite an adventurous spirit. I thrive on challenges and always look for opportunities to step outside my comfort zone, whether it’s trying an extreme sport, exploring a new baking technique, or diving into a complex project. It’s these experiences that enrich my life and often inspire my creativity in the kitchen and in my professional work.
Q: Which yearly event in Grand Traverse County do you enjoy best?
Christmas lights
Q: What is your favorite season in Northern Michigan? And what is your favorite activity to do in that season?
My favorite season in Northern Michigan has to be fall, hands down. The color tours are spectacular here, with the vibrant hues of autumn leaves creating a breathtaking panorama that’s like a live painting. My favorite activity during this season is to take long drives through the countryside, immersing myself in the landscape’s transformation. It’s a perfect time for reflection and inspiration.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
“Natural Beauty,” “Community Spirit,” and “Culinary Delight.”
