My name is Katie Grossnickle, I grew up in Northern Indiana but my parents had a cottage in Maple City since before I was born. I feel like I grew up up here too. I learned to ski at Sugarloaf and we spent many summers here on the water. I show horses and travel all over the country for them with my mom. I went to school at the University of South Caroline and I rode on their equestrian team. I graduated with a degree in Retail Management. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I graduated but while at a horse show a lady approached me asking if I would be interested in buying her mobile boutique. After much discussion I bought the mobile boutique and traveled even more for about 3.5 years. I then got tired of traveling and that is when I opened my boutique here on Front St. I opened in May of 2013. I love being part of Downtown TC, it has so many things to offer.
I love spending time for my family, dogs and horses. I am happy sitting outside drinking a glass of wine and reading a book.

I own Glitz & Spurs Boutique. I love getting to meet new customers daily and picking clothes to fit their needs.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? What brought you to Grand Traverse County?
I have worked downtown for over 10 years. I love the area and when a space became available downtown I jumped at the opportunity.
Q: What advice would you give to people who want to visit our community?
Ask locals there favorite things to do, places to eat, must sees!! Visit all the surrounding towns. Visit all the downtowns!!
Q: If you could choose anyone today with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you all meet?
I would choose Marilyn Monroe, I think she is an iconic woman that was well before her time. We would have lunch at Stellas.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I feel like our community is very well knit, and truly wants to protect our beautiful area.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I started riding horses with my mom when I was 18 months old, the bug bit me and has never stopped.

Oh wow that is hard, Summer. I LOVE being outside, I love the water, the beach, the warmth, the beauty around us.
